Community Resources
The Breast Cancer Resource Center connects breast and other cancer patients, survivors and their loved ones to community resources through information and referral. Staff will connect you to services based on your individual needs.
Services include:
- Cancer Screening and Treatment Services Women needing low/no-cost services are referred to the following local programs:
- NM Dept. of Health's Breast and Cervical Cancer Program covers screening and treatment costs for those who meet the financial criteria
- YWCA can also cover the cost of screening for women who may not qualify for assistance through the Dept of Health
- Comadre a Comadre Program provides support, information and referral services to Hispanic/Latina women with breast cancer; services are offered in Spanish and English
- Legal Assistance
Cancer Services of New Mexico offers the Legal, Insurance & Paperwork Assistance (LIPA) Program; free clinics and tools are provided to help navigate a wide range of legal, financial and insurance issues - Transportation
A variety of options are available to assist clients, including the Breast Cancer Resource Center Gas Card Program, for those who are eligible - Lodging
Casa Esperanza provides appropriate housing and emotional support for patients, families and caregivers who temporarily reside in Albuquerque while the patient receives treatment - Counseling and/or Emotional Support
Client needs are assessed by staff and referrals are made to programs, services and organizations offering one-on-one and group support
