Health Education
Cancer Health EducationAs part of connecting people to resources and information, the BCRC understands the importance of screening and early detection of cancer. Through health education classes, we provide information that promotes risk reduction through early detection and screening. Our classes are presented with sensitivity to the various cultural needs of the communities we serve. The BCRC offers classes, health talks, and presentations on the following topics:
- Breast Health – provides information about breast health and the three-step approach to breast cancer screening that includes breast self-exam, clinical breast exams, and mammography
- Cancer 101 – delivers cancer education that is built on cultural strengths to address topics such as cancer screening, cultural beliefs, risk and risk reductions, basic cancer treatments in a classroom or workshop atmosphere
- Breast Cancer 101 – similar to Cancer 101, but provides topics and issues with a specific focus on breast health and breast cancer
